Influencing Skills - How To Influence People

There is no right way, nor is there only one way to influence others. Everything, but everything, is a factor when influencing people.

And we are, all of us, influenced by people, places, events and situations at all times.

Sometimes we are affected more or less by these things, but we are continually being influenced by what happens around us.

So what about the specifics in the workplace?

Your job requires you to influence people just about all of the time. It may take the form of gaining support, inspiring others, persuading other people to become your champions, engaging someone's imagination, creating relationships.

Whatever form it takes, being an excellent influencer makes your job easier.

An interesting point about people who use their influencing skills well, is that other people like being around them. There's a kind of exciting buzz, or sense that things happen when they're about.

It's because they don't sit around wishing things were different while moaning there's nothing they can do about it.

They don't sit around blaming others or complaining about what needs fixing that will make things better. They see what needs doing and set about getting it done.

Truly excellent influencing skills require a healthy combination of interpersonal, communication, presentation and assertiveness techniques. (more…)

Success Management - Developing Personal Success Skills

Success management involves developing personal success skills that enable you to shine when others fail. Let's start by asking you a few questions:

- Can you tell your employees what they want to hear, even though it is bad news?

- Do you know where you stand as a leader?

- Do you understand your own personal brand?

- Can you make a decision stick - and stick by your decision?

If you cannot answer all of these positively and with confidence then you need to work on your personal success skills. Success management will not help you manage success, but will help you to be successful. It might not make you a great manager or leader, but it can give you the right attitude towards achieving the success you desire.

Many people are unable to manage their personal lives, yet pretend to be able to manage others. Perhaps they can, but one measure of the success of a manager is how successful they lead their own life. Management is not leadership, of course, and it takes more than good management to make a good leader. However, success itself requires neither good management nor good leadership, although the latter is more of a measure than the former. Good leaders are respected, and true success management is difficult without gaining respect - the respect of your family, employees or colleagues, and even of those above you in the hierarchy. Public Speaking Training on Presentation Skills - a Beginner's Guide

If you're new to public speaking, then let's start with an easy way of understanding presentation skills.

Simply put, presentation skill is the process of efficiently, effectively, and elegantly communicating and transmitting your message to your audience.

Your message may be simple or complex.

Presentation skills can vary depending on why you're speaking in the first place and what you're trying to accomplish: you may be attempting to persuade and influence your audience, or you may be trying to inspire and enlighten, or you may be required to impart new skills and abilities, or you may just be there to report facts and data.
